If the eligible trademark invoked by the applicant includes one or more spaces between words, the spaces may be removed entirely or replaced with a hyphen.The following are technical exceptions to the principle described above:
SUNRISE DONUTS REGISTRATION
It shall not be possible for the applicant to obtain a domain name registration for a part of the complete name for which the eligible trademark exists, unless provided for otherwise in the exceptions listed below. During Sunrise, the domain name applied for must be identical to the eligible trademark. Syntax requirements apply to all domain names registered with Donuts for any TLD, but they are particularly important during Sunrise phase for trademark holders. Domains in Sunrise Lock cannot be updated, transferred, or deleted. Once a domain is awarded to an applicant during the Sunrise phase, it is in a “Sunrise Lock” for a minimum of 60 days to allow parties to file Sunrise Challenges. Employees, partners, and contractors of the registry are prohibited from participating in Sunrise auc-tions. The domain will be awarded to the auction winner after payment is received.Īuctions are conducted according to specific rules and ethics guidelines. If there are two or more valid applications for a domain string, those applicants will be invited to participate in a closed auction for the domain name. If there is only one valid application for a domain string, the domain will be awarded to that applicant.
The trademark on which the application is based, which has been submitted to and verified by the TMCHĪt conclusion of Sunrise, Donuts Inc will finish the validation process.In addition to the standard application contents, domain name applications made during Sunrise must also include: Has been validated by the Trademark Clearinghouse (TMCH) and has a Signed Mark Data (SMD) file generated.Consists exclusively of letters, words, numerals, and special characters that meet the syntax requirements.The domain name cannot be modified, transferred, or deleted during this period. Only holders of registered trademarks that have been validated by the Trademark Clearinghouse and that have an SMD file will be able to register their trademark name in the new TLD.ĭuring the Sunrise phase, holders of eligible trademarks have the opportunity to apply for and register the domain names that correspond with those trademarks before registration is opened to the public.Ī period of 60 days after a domain name is awarded to a Sunrise applicant pending any Sunrise challenge. A 60-day phase during which early registrants have access to domain names that contain trademarked names.
